Re: Noise, only when in Record, or when meter is active
Audacity traditionally has no power to change the sound of a performance while it's recording. Thousands of people want that, but so far, no. Audacity will capture whatever the computer supplies however messy it is. If Audacity just can't make it work, you may get the famous "Error while openi...

Re: Nyquist returns value... but why???
I was excited about the "Buzz Tone" option under the "Generate" menu. However, every time I've tried it, I've gotten an error message saying "Nyquest did not return audio" "Buzz Tone" is not one of the standard effects shipped with Audacity, Where did that co...

Re: How to find "track marks" in audio file
The file appears to have SoundForge markers embedded in the header.
SoundForge is owned by Sony. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/soundforgesoftware

Re: New plug-in effect - PopMute
Can someone help me? I've spent most of the afternoon playing with the PopMute settings without really knowing what I'm doing. Not only have I been unsuccessful in getting rid of my pops, I haven't even managed to make an audible difference. Please post a short audio clip in WAV format so that we c...

Re: How to find "track marks" in audio file
Audacity does not support Sony Track Marks.
Audacity has "labels" that can be used for splitting a track into multiple parts: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sp ... racks.html

Re: Problem compiling audacity with asio support
Does it take literally 5 minutes to start up, or just "seems like a long time"?
Which source code did you use? Did you check out the latest SVN?
Does Audacity run OK once it has started?
Try disabling VST effect in Preferences and then restart - is that any quicker?

Re: Noise, only when in Record, or when meter is active
There's a bit of electrical interference there. If you are using a laptop computer, try running it on batteries and see if that improves it. Using the Equalization effect to reduce the very low bass frequencies, followed by a little Noise Removal effect will help to reduce that background rumble (lo...

Re: Problem with opening sound device?
Have you tried rebooting the computer? Try both the "MME" and the "Direct Sound" options in the device toolbar . Ensure that the "Sample Rate" matches in both "Edit > Preferences > Devices" and Windows Sound Control Panel . Try both 44100 and 48000. Ensure tha...

Re: Greyed out drop menu!
Most functions are greyed out while Audacity is playing recording or paused. Click the Stop button to ensure that Audacity is in Stop mode. How to join stereo tracks is described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/splitting_and_joining_stereo_tracks.html Rather than just delaying one track t...
