Re: Can I use Audacity to record in 16 bit / 44.1 kHz wav fo

By default Audacity records 32 bit float, 44.1 kHz PCM, and using the default settings, file exporting is 16 bit WAV (Microsoft 16 bit PCM) format with the same sample rate as the Audacity project, so in effect, the thing that you want to do is what Audacity does by default. The issue that may be ca...

Re: error while opening sound device please check input and

I presume that you tried rebooting the computer?

Check in the Windows Sound Control Panel that the sound card has been detected by Windows, is enabled and working - If Windows does not see the audio device then Audacity will not be able to.

Re: 24 kHz recordings (Keep rate or change?)

if I add effects, duplicate, multi track, make stereo, etc. with Audacity --can that (combined) exceed the original recording's 'frequencies'? --thus the end result be improved by 'upsampling' --from it's original 24 kHz to the standard 44.1 kHz? "Most" effects and editing will not make a...

Re: Octave band filter

First, I notice that the (s-rest 1) expression does not return exactly zeros. Nyquist, like other effects in Audacity, processes in 32 bit float. It is highly recommended that you work in 32 bit float format in Audacity (unless you have a really good overriding reason not to ;)) 32 bit float format...

Re: Audible.com QC standards

I can't believe I'm the only person baffled by this. I can assure you that you are not. Sadly their "specification" is incomplete so it is difficult for us to advise on more the general guidelines. I have written to them again asking for clarification on their specification so that we are...
