Check near the bottom of the Transport menu and ensure that "Sound Activated Recording" is not selected.

Sorry about the delay approving your post. This site is used across all time zones and even the moderators need to sleep / eat / go to work / wash the dishes ... ;) We aim to approve posts within 24 hours - usually much quicker. Here it is. Track Two is the one with the echo, and Track One is the au...

Re: Playback is failing with multiple tracks

I've got a quadcore AMD Athlon II x4 640 Processor on 3.0ghz 4gb ram motherboard: msi gf615m-p33 I'm using a cheap 2 GHz dual core Intel Acer laptop (with Linux) and I can record 40 tracks before the sound starts to lag. If I push that up to 80 tracks, then there is a delay of several seconds befor...

Re: Audible.com QC standards

One of the things they are looking for with regards the rms level, is how it varies over time. For the end user (what do you call an audio book user? "the reader"? "listener"?) it would be quite irritating if the middle of chapter 3 is quieter than the rest and they have to turn ...

Re: Batch spliting stereo to mono without channel mixing

Yes I think it's possible, but you will need a recent version of Audacity - preferably 2.0.3 or 2.0.4. Look in "Help > About Audacity" to check which version you have. While you're doing that I'll check to see if my idea works. How long are the files and what exactly do you need to do to t...

Re: Removing echo of one track from another.

If you have each person recorded on separate tracks, you may be able to use a noise gate to reduce the echo. If you do have each person on separate tracks and if you could post a short sample (just a few seconds, preferably in WAV or FLAC format), then we can have a look to see what can be done. See...

Re: Error installing Audacity 2.0.4 in Ubuntu 10.04

What version of libsndfile do you have? I think that's the problem. ‘SF_STR_GENRE’ and ‘SF_STR_TRACKNUMBER’ are defined in libsndfile. They were introduced 1n 2010, which looks like it was an update to libsndfile1 version 1.0.23. If you are still on Lucid then you've probably got libsndfile1 versio...
