Re: Tinny & morse code sounds
That's some sort of electrical interference, most likely from the computer or, if it's a laptop from the power supply. This is a common problem when using the built-in sound card because the sound card circuitry is jammed in amongst all of the (electrically noisy) digital electronics. Laptop compute...

Re: Bandwith limited when ripping vinyl
Audacity has a "Plot Spectrum" feature: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/plot_spectrum.html
It may not be as pretty as the Goldwave image, but it is possibly more informative.

Re: "Error While Opening Sound Device" - Rode Podcaster
I'm not on Windows, but in the Windows Control Panel, you may find an "Exclusive Mode" checkbox in the device settings. If that is enabled it will probably only allow one application at a time access the device. If it is enabled, try disabling it.

Re: Simple recording
Can someone explain how I can just go back to the mistake and start again from that point, please? There are several different approaches that you can take. The way that I prefer to work is to go through the recording continuously, then go back and fix the problems later. The parts that need fixing...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 multitrack with Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL
I forgot to mention that I used Audacity 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 for multitrack recording the interface ESSI ESU1818 without problems. Of course, with Windows Direct or Windows WDM-KS. Conclusion: Audacity is a true multitrack DAW!!! Yes, Audacity is capable of recording multiple tracks simultaneously, but...

Re: Bandwith limited when ripping vinyl
Visibly I miss some bandwith when I try to record more than to 48 kHz. Where are you looking to see that? Does it matter what it "looks" like? Surely the "sound" is the important thing :? If you are having problems with 96 kHz recording, then why not use 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz? I do...

Re: Silence Finder - Track name = track # ?
Is there a way to easily name the track the same as the track #, so that when I export, the exported song name is not "S" but instead the track #? To be clear, what do you mean by "#" ? Do you want the labels numbered sequentially? I've moved this topic to the Feature Request se...

Re: Cursor functionality needs dramatic improvement
Yes it's basically the same as what you would do on a reel 2 reel by holding the reels and manually manoevering the tape through the play head Don't forget the "B" key (Play to Selection) feature, and the "C" key (Play Cut Preview): http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/playing_an...

Re: Has anyone found a demodulator for CD4 (Quadraphonic) Vi
I've now employed another method that firstly doesn't need a limiter and secondly needs no lowpass update recursively. It splits the signal into sine and cosine and keeps tracking the instant phase. Excellent - are you doing that with FFT ? That's the sound of the left channel from the sample Audio...

Re: Has anyone found a demodulator for CD4 (Quadraphonic) Vi
Big question, why does Steve's code snippet produce such a horrible sound? Answer: Better ask, why does it produce sound at all? The snippet first applies a narrow band pass filter at the carrier frequency. The FM signal frequency has an average frequency equal to the carrier, but is modulated (by ...
