Re: Something Stupid

Audacity does not "save a file". The "Save" option in the File menu will save an Audacity Project. An Audacity Project is not "a file", it is a file plus the audio data that is used in the project. See here for an explanation: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audaci...

Re: Exported Spectrum overwrites existing file.

If agreement can be reached by QA about "how" to implement it, then it will be a work in progress, but until such time it is a feature request.
My vote is for: "Export Spectrum overwrites existing file" and prompts the user if the file already exists (like when exporting audio).

Unless you think that this "Enhanced Services" thing is a solution. I doubt that it is the solution, but this is what Koz was referring to: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements I've just gone cross-eyed with all the tech jargon Sorry about t...

Re: Query about 16-bit and 32-floating bit

Lossy formats such as Ogg, MP3 and so on, are a bit different from lossless formats such as WAV, AIFF, FLAC in that they do not aim to preserve the data integrity, but rather preserve the subjective sound quality. As such, they don't have "bit depth" in the same way that lossless formats d...

Re: Track Drop-down Menu commands

Sorry, but that's hardly a reason, it's rather an obstacle for the programmer. Many menu commands do not care what is selected (play for example). In its simplest form, the key assignement could simply send "shift-m" and "u" to the keyboard buffer. I'm perhaps being a bit pedant...

Re: Query about 16-bit and 32-floating bit

the final file, when loaded again into Audacity, indicates a 16-bit file. What format are you exporting as? What format do you want the final exported file? (Note that when you use "Save" in the Audacity File menu, it saves an "Audacity Project" which is not an "audio file&...

Chris’s Dynamic Compressor uses a unique algorithm that Chris Capel developed (hence the name of the effect). The settings in Chris’s Dynamic Compressor do not directly transfer to any other compressor. To achieve similar results to the VLC compressor, try using Audacity's buil-in compressor: http:/...

Have a look in /home/<user-name>/.audacity-data/AutoSave/ for a file with the file extension .autosave . Make two copies of that file. One as a back-up and one to work with. Open up one of the copies in a text editor. The file is in XML format, which uses "tags" around each item in the for...

Re: Vst VUMT Klanghelm

Audacity does not currently support real time effects, so that plug-in will not work.
Audacity has its own meters, which are not as pretty as the ones in that plug-in but work very well: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/meter_toolbar.html
