Re: de-click via differentiation then limiting then integrat
Interesting idea. In effect it is acting as an amplitude dependent low pass filter. I'm not sure of the maths, but for a given input amplitude, the slope increases rapidly with frequency so it makes the crackles stand out more. Does this work any better than using a high-shelf filter with positive g...

Re: Automatic removal of mouth smacks
The default settings in Noise Removal are a bit too aggressive for my liking, but many users require the settings to be quite aggressive so as to have some impact on bad recordings. Setting the "Noise Reduction (dB)" to about -12 will still have an appreciable effect on low level noise, bu...

Re: Automatic removal of mouth smacks
Problems would be first identifying clicks, which are typically 5ms or less, and then repairing them. I have some untested ideas for both. I think that identifying the clicks would be the hardest part. Can your phoneme analyser help with that? http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=211220#p2...

Re: I need to have IMA ADPCM codec, does Audacity have this?
Prior to recording I've set Audacity to 8000 Hz (lower left) and mono (center upper). The important thing is that the "Project Rate" (lower left corner of the main Audacity window) is set to 8000 immediately before you export. Then go to "File menu > Export", which will open the...

Re: Audacity doesn't complete conversion to MP3
whenever it is coverting to MP3, it has always created a file with the same name as the one it is converting, but with an '0' at the end of its name Yes, that is normal. The audio is first written as a temporary file with a "0" added to the name, and then renamed to the name that you set ...

Re: Complete Novice, very confused, please help :-)
I've installed my UM-1 Midi-USB lead MIDI is not sound - it is just instructions about "note data" and similar, for use with keyboards, synthesizers, MODI sequencers and so on. Audacity cannot record MIDI. Please see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting...

Re: choosing a small mixer
Having said, the Alesis Multimix doesn't have a built-in compressor like the Behringer mixer. Is this a big concern No, not a big issue. If you don't have a compressor you need to be a bit more careful with your recording levels to ensure that clipping does not occur. Compression can be a quick and...

Re: Easy way for Audacity to use ASIO?
This is like 'the name that nobody speaks'. Not really - it's in the "Frequently Asked Questions": http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:About_Audacity#asio Building Audacity from the sourcecode on Windows should be fairly straightforward, though rather long-winded. Ensure that you have ...

Re: Compiling Audacity 1.0.0 with wxWidgets 2.8.12
Why do you want to build Audacity 1.0.0?
Not only is it obsolete, I don't think that Audacity 1.0.0 supported VST.
