Re: How can I locate specific sounds in a recording?
I’ve been struggling for quite a long time now to find some way of automating this procedure using Sound Finder but I’m not really getting anywhere with it What's the problem that you are having with sound finder? I’ve attached a very brief .wav file as an illustration We've not got that. See here ...

Re: Ringing/Feedback Sounds
I doubt that it is "an Audacity thing" because Audacity just records the data that it is given and has no ability to modify the audio data during recording. Anyhow, you could test that by recording a test using Microsoft Sound Recorder to see if the ringing still occurs without Audacity.

Re: Silence Finder - Track name = track # ?
Have you seen the "Numbering after file name prefix" option in Export Multiple? http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ex ... tiple.html
Can that do what you want?
Also, Silence Finder could easily be modified to use some text other than "S".

Re: Track Drop-down Menu commands
First, it's slow. With 40 tracks on Windows 7, after Move Track Up or Down, I'm waiting for more than five seconds looking at a History box first with a whited out list, , and then the whole History window whited out. Really? :o It's virtually instant here. I wonder why the difference. Is that alwa...

Re: Audacity doesn't complete conversion to MP3
No, I'm saying that it occurs whenever a file is being overwritten, but that file does not need to be a dependency.Gale Andrews wrote: are you saying Audacity writes a temporary export file even when the file being created doesn't already exist?
However, that is not what Paulinee43 is saying.

Yes, though again I'd recommend selecting the "Reset Preferences" option.Paulinee43 wrote:Can I install v. 2.0.5 straight over the old version and does this new version use the same LAME and FF Mpeg plugins as are already installed?

Re: Need help getting rid of large noise spikes.
Found out what the problem was. A noisy pc battery charger. Unplugged the charger while recording. Spikes are gone. Thanks for the help. "Spikes" are unusual - "Noise" from the battery charger is very common (usually a kind of high pitched electronic whistling sound). It could b...

Re: Audacity doesn't complete conversion to MP3
I am about to install the next version of Audacity - 2.0.5rc1 No need to install the "rc1" version - Audacity 2.0.5 has now been released and is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows (I don't want to even think about defective RAM! The memory testing at start-up always ...
