Re: How to operate on samples directly, e.g. spec f(t)?
Hi tophat, How does one specify operating directly on samples themselves? Generally one would avoid doing that unless it is a last resort. ;) There's two main ways of doing sample-wise DSP in Nyquist. There's the frustratingly awkward, difficult and slow way, and there's the much easier and very slo...

Re: Sliding Time Scale issues... Ubuntu 12.04, Audacity 2.0.
it gave me the same problem with the Sliding Time Scale. I think the problem may be with the SBSMS (time stretch) library that the effect uses. The Audacity source code includes a fairly recent version, but the PPA build may use the repository version. The issue was discussed on the Audacity develo...

Re: Sliding Time Scale issues... Ubuntu 12.04, Audacity 2.0.
I think I'll try one of those "daily" builds To install the "daily" build requires adding the PPA to your sources list. Because this PPA usually updates every day, it can be tiresome to keep updating, and occasionally (because it is the daily snapshot) there may be unexpected bu...

Re: Easy button switch Make Stereo Track/Split Stereo Track
Why not just keep them as two tracks? If you want to, for example, delete a section from both tracks, then just ensure that the selection is in both tracks, Some handy shortcuts: Select in all tracks: Ctrl+Shift+K Move focus (yellow border around the track) to another track: Up / Down keys Toggle th...

Re: Sliding Time Scale issues... Ubuntu 12.04, Audacity 2.0.
Ah, this rings a bell - I'll need to check.... [Some time later] Are you using 64 bit Ubuntu? There was a serious sound quality problem with Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift on 64 bit Linux. The problem was fixed about a year ago. If this is the problem then there are a number of possible solutions:...

Re: Remove white noise from voice as well as background.
Noise Removal can work well when there is constant low level noise, but if the noise level is high then that is a much harder problem. Getting the "best" results is all about compromise. For it to not sound weird (metallic, bubbly, watery, swooshy, robotic) you will probably have to settle...

Almost forgot - make a note (on paper) of all settings that you change - so that you can get back to how it is now.

Re: Help with recording using mixtrack pro
Just a thought: Have a look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and see if the Numark is listed and enabled as a playback device. If it is, try setting it as the default playback device. I think that Windows Media Player always uses the default playback device, so if you can set the Numark as the def...

Re: 2.0.2 on Vista - Clicking black merge line crashes Audac
Also, I am very conservative: I don't update unless it's mandatory. If something is already working, why "fix" it? ;) Well we're unable to reproduce the issue on Audacity 2.0.5, so perhaps that could be a reason to update? (though there is no guarantee that updating will fix the problem a...

Re: Help with recording using mixtrack pro
The only "real" inputs available are from your normal (Realtek) sound card. "Microsoft Sound Mapper" is a kind of "proxy" for whatever audio device is set as the default in the Windows Sound Control Panel . Device ID: 11 Device name: Speakers (3- MixTrack Pro) (loopback...
