Re: No recording device found-motherboard chip set up
Please use paragraphs when you write. It is difficult to read otherwise, and many people just won't bother reading a solid block of text. Look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and in the Recording tab see if any devices are listed. You may need to "Show disabled devices" and "Show D...

Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
Generate a click track Choose Click Track from the Generate menu. The second control is the Tempo [beats per minute] edit box, and its default value is 120. Type 60, and then press Tab twice to move to the next edit box. The Beats per measure [bar] edit box has a default value of 4. Type in the num...

Re: Audacity randomly crashes / stops playing sound
In that case you want the mother board manufacturer and look for the specific mother board that you have.
If its a full size computer and you can easily get the cover off, then the model number is often printed directly on the motherboard.

Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
That phasing effect is because the latency correction is very close to (within a few milliseconds of) the actual round trip latency. If the latency correction is exactly equal to the actual latency then you won't even hear that phasing effect. It will sound just like the original but 6 dB louder. Yo...

Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
it would be nice if you (Steve) could supply a function that returns the Audacity.cfg location on Linux (or even Mac?). On Linux the default location is ~/.audacity-data where "tilde forward slash" means the users home folder. On Mac OS X it is ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ On W...

If you have a branded computer, go to the manufacturers web site and look for the latest drivers for your computer model and operating system.

Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
Zero latency is impossible, not only for Audacity but for any program. There are several different "latencies" but they all refer to the same principle, which is that things cannot be done "instantly". When you record the first track, the sound enters the computer (perhaps via a ...

Re: New to Audacity: how to unmute and lengthen tracks
Second question: I cut a track too short so I'm now missing audio that was cut away, how can I lengthen the track to the audio that I previously cut out? If the audio was a file that you imported, then import the file again. (File menu > Import > Audio) To avoid this problem in the future there are...

Re: USB Audio Interface
And i'm not sure what made you think this - but computer fan noise is not an issue I have. If you had posted an audio sample then I would have known that. As you haven't I was covering possible issues that might make you ask about upgrading your hardware. Also I'm not sure where I said anything was...
