Re: compile fails: 2.0.5 ubuntu 12.04
Audacity does not use Java.
If you are building in NetBeans then it is probably that NetBeans is broken.

Re: Unclear voice
So how could I improve the next record with my computer. Turn off the Windows Sound "Enhancements" (see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements) Get much closer to the microphone, then adjust the recording level as necessary so that the m...

Re: Bass Boost in Effects and Equalization 2.0.5
They are similar, but not identical. An easy way to see the curve for Bass and Treble (or any other filter) is to apply the effect to generated white noise http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/generate_menu.html#noise and then look at the result using "Plot Spectrum" http://manual.audacity...

Re: Hacking the XLisp runtime!
My understanding is that the Audacity developers prefer to avoid modifying libraries. If there are bug fixes or enhancements discovered, then they prefer to push them upstream. If libraries are modified by Audacity then they must be maintained by Audacity, which can be a significant addition to the ...

Re: Auto Labels
A little "trick" for finding the peak level of a selection is to select the part that you are interested in, then select the "Amplify" effect. Don't apply the amplify effect, just look at the "Amplification (dB)" amount. That tells you how much amplification is required...

Re: Auto Labels
Here's a slightly modified version of Sound Finder. In this version, the default "Label starting point [seconds before sound starts]" is 1 second and has a maximum range of 5 seconds and the default "Label ending point [seconds after sound ends]" is 2 seconds and has a maximum ra...

Re: Individual Storage of Host Settings
The device info gives some rough latency estimations. Unfortunately on some machines that information is completely unreliable. Probably the most simple and expected approach would be to use the current 130 ms value the first time that Audacity runs, and then if/when the configuration is changed, t...

Re: How to Create Template for Podcast Intro/Outro?
The way that I would do it would be to record and edit the intro, then export as a WAV file. Then restart Audacity with a new project and record / edit the outro and export as a WAV file. Now record your show and edit it as necessary. If you have multiple audio tracks, use "Tracks > Mix and Ren...

Re: Strict Cuttof
I want to cutoff everything below 100 hertz to 0 volume I want everything over 100 hertz 100 percent volume I want no transition in-between, just strict cutoff. How can this be done? It can't be done, it's impossible, but you can get quite close to that with these settings in the Equalization effec...
