Re: Adding silent space every 30 seconds over 45 min MP3
If you computer has sufficient free ram then it should be possible by running this code in the Nyquist Prompt effect. Note that this is dumb code - it has no error checking, and it does not know where words start or end so the gaps will be placed at the exact intervals that you specify. To use the c...

Re: Record On My Laptop Not Working
Hi Joe. What are you trying to record, for example: "I'm trying to record from an Ion USB turntable, model "Profile LP" which is connected via a USB hub to my laptop". (by the way, recording via a shared USB hub is not recommended). Perhaps you could post a short audio sample to ...

Re: Can't get it to record
Microsoft Sound Mapper is not a "real" device. It just represents whatever default settings your computer happens to have at the present time. My guess is that the default that is being used is the built in microphone. If there is an option for "Stereo Mix" as the recording input...

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks
my impression is that for every two posts asking about vocal removal, there is one post asking about vocal isolation. So I think we want a shipped tool that does isolation. I agree about the demand, but I'm cautious about adding another effect that "only works sometimes" (not a criticism ...

Re: FLAC files and Level
I ran a test on the same file where I saved the file using Export Multiple > FLAC 16bit Depth with the Level on 5 then the Level on 8. Although your help files say the file size will not be affected I noticed the file size was indeed different between the two types Could you tell us where it says t...

Re: Monitoring while recording and second track sounds funny
Unlike the old tape/cassette recorders, pushing the level into the red should never occur in digital recording. Digital audio is totally unforgiving about peak level. 0dB is the absolute maximum level that a sound card can handle without distortion, so it is best to work well under 0 dB, and if nece...

Re: Monitoring while recording and second track sounds funny
I think it may be clipping, You can check that by looking at the playback meter (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/meter_toolbar.html) If the meter level goes all the way up to 0 dB then the clip indicator will "light up" indicating that the level is too high. Set your recording level ...

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks
So how about when i split the mono track to stereo one channel came out of right speaker and one out of left ? That is exactly what is happening. If you split a stereo track using "Drop down menu > Split Stereo Track" then the upper of the two tracks is allocated to the left channel and s...
