Re: Audio Tracks From AVCHD Clips
Audacity does not natively support AVCHD but you may (I've not tested) be able to import the files if you install FFMpeg (see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown) If that does not work, use your video editor to export as a WAV file. MP3 encoding will ...

Re: Noise in recorded clip from stereo mix of VLC playback
Are you looking for a solution or an explanation? I don't know what the explanation is - the recording from VLC is wrong. Two solutions come to mind: 1) Record from Windows Media Player rather than VLC. 2) VLC has a feature that allows you to write the output directly to a file rather than to the so...

Shall I go with Mackie Onyx Blackjack then? or you would recommend another one? Forum policy is that this forum does not recommend or endorse products other than Audacity. Re: Is Chris 1.2.6 still the best?
Maybe I'm missing something so please let me know what you are doing. When starting a recording it should be: "Record,... 3...2...1...go..." rather than "3...2...1...Record..." The very start of a recording can be a bit iffy for many reasons. Allowing a few seconds at each end o...

Re: Is feature request page up-to-date?
The feature request page is updated regularly, though there may be additional requests pending. For many of the requests there are multiple possible ways to implement the feature, so you may find it useful to discus your ideas here on the forum to get some feedback before spending too much time on a...

Re: Record button does not work
I would strongly suspect the problem lies with the sound card drivers.
See here for how you may be able to fix it: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updat ... ce_Drivers

Re: Metadata?
CDs don't support metadata.
Windows Media Player often appears to show metadata on CDs when it is really displaying data from its database.
There is an extension to the standard audio CD format called "CD-Text" which is supported by some CD writers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-Text

So did you try raising the noise floor setting to see what happens?

Re: Is Chris 1.2.6 still the best?
the current one has the minor flaw that it adds noise to the beginning/end of my tracks, and I just snip it out, no big deal I don't have Chris's compressor installed at the moment, but are you sure this is not a user error? Chris's dynamic compressor is intended to even out the "dynamics"...
