Re: Same Volume Levels For All Projects
What's the best way to achieve the same volume output between projects for playback? I presume that you mean that you want equal "loudness" (which is a different issue to "amplitude"). Equal amplitude is easy - just use the Normalize effect. Equal loudness is much harder as it i...

Re: edit > preferences help please.

If you know for certain what the default (native) sample rate of your audio capture device is, then there may be a very slight benefit in setting the default Audacity sample rate to match, otherwise (assuming that you are going fro...

Switch back to the normal Selection tool (F1 key) and click on a track so that the tracks are not selected (not highlighted), then switch back to the Time Shift tool (F5 key) and move the track that you want to move.

Re: OpenGL/DirectX GUI?
Audacity is primarily in C++ with a small amount of C and LISP code. If you are interested in coding for Audacity, a good place to start is to build Audacity from the current svn source code. You will find links to several resources for new Audacity developers here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki...

Re: Poor audio playback during high hard drive activity
If the problem persists your hard drive may be wearing out or it may just be too slow to cope with everything, or both. If the drive were "wearing out" then I'd expect other, more serious problems to be occurring, such as file corruption in both data and program files. In the absence of o...
