Re: All I need to do is burn my cassettes to CD's
One other thing . I have windows media player didn't know I could burn from there yet isn't it better to use CDBurnerXP? Or does it matter. Windows Media Player was one of the wonderful Microsoft features that persuaded me to switch to Linux ;) I've used CDBurnerXP a lot in the past. I like it. One...

If it's important please include a link to the actual page and an exact quote, then if it is an error it can be corrected. I refer to this part of the re...

Re: Can Audicity help to sync AVI V and A with VLC Media Pla
Audacity would only be able to play the audio part and not the video. Audacity may be able to import the audio directly from the AVI file if you install FFmpeg (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown ). Note that Audacity does not support all builds of FF...

Re: unable to record
Check that "Transport > Sound Activated Recording (on/off)" does not have a checkmark (tick) by it. If it does, click it to turn it off.

Re: Portable (load "somelib.lsp") -- why not?
Did you verify that this works for you in Linux? As for the ~, that is the environment variable $HOME, correct? If XLisp gives you getenv, then doing the rest in Lisp should be easy enough. On 'Nix systems, "~/" ( tilde , forward-slash) refers to the user home directory. This is usually s...

Re: Project Rates and Recording
Does it matter when I record what the project rate is on when I record my vinyl? Yes. Normally you would want 44100 Hz if the final file is for CD, or 48000 if it is for DVD. Up to 96000 Hz may be appropriate for irreplaceable archive files (with two or three back-up copies stored in different phys...

Re: All I need to do is burn my cassettes to CD's
On tape you would normally aim for a high recording level, perhaps "pushing into the red" on occasion but not too often. In digital recordings you can't do that. Permanent damage starts as soon as you touch the red, so for digital recording the level should be far enough below 0 dB to ensu...

You're using a mic that plugs into a USB socket on your computer?
What do you have the recording input set to in the device toolbar?

Re: Choppiness and Skips appear at 6:45:47 in Long Recording
Years ago I used to use a free program called MemTest86. I believe it is still around, still maintained, and still free.
