Look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and see if "Stereo Mix" is available and enabled.
Other ways to record what is playing on the computer are described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... ndows.html

Re: Removing click sound in audacity
A common cause of clicks when using a USB device is that the USB is unable to keep up with the constant stream of audio data. If the computer CPU usage goes too high (for example when running CPU intensive applications at the same time) then the USB port is made to wait, which causes some data to be...

I used to use a video editor that was part of "Nero" which was quite easy to use and reasonably capable. Their current offering is Nero Video 2014 which I have not tried, but there is a free trial version available: http://www.nero.com/eng/products/nero-v ... wnload.php

Re: Broken Waveform Display
I guess it might be a problem with my graphic card I'm inclined to agree, that is what it looks like to me. Try logging in in "Gnome fall-back mode" (or whatever the Ubuntu Studio equivalent) and turn off all video effects, then log out and back in again in fall-back mode. Then try Audaci...

Re: Removing click sound in audacity
I think the crucial question here is, why is your recording full of click sounds? Tell us about your set-up, what you were recording and how you were recording it. Is there any method to remove clicks from audio files. The "Repair" effect (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/repair.html) ...

Re: Choppiness and Skips appear at 6:45:47 in Long Recording
I was hoping to record a 36-hour Christmas show that starts on Christmas Eve. Possibly fortunate that you mentioned that. There is a bug in Audacity that prevents projects longer than 2147483648 samples (2^31) from opening correctly. Attempting to do so results in the loss of the entire audio. This...

it always stops recording halfway through. If there is a selected (highlighted) region, then recording will stop at the end of that region. To ensure that there is no selected region, press the Home button before you start recording. What options are available and which options are selected in the ...

Re: Cannot get any sound
What is set as the playback device in the device toolbar?
If you restart Audacity, then generate a "Tone" (using the Tone generator in the "Generate" menu with default settings) and then press the Play button, do you hear the tone play (a 30 second "beep")?

Re: Broken Waveform Display
How strange. This is not a known problem with Audacity 2.0.3 or 2.0.6 alpha.
Is it just the display that is incorrect? In other words, does the track play correctly?
