Logarithmic Sliders
There are a few places that would benefit from logarithmic sliders. For example: Mixer Board, level sliders. Track Gain slider. Change Speed. Amplify. Compressor, all dB sliders. Reverb, Wet Gain and Dry Gain sliders. Various Nyquist plug-ins wxWidgets does not provide a log scale slider so it would...

Re: Novice seeking info on file compression
I dunno how widely acceptable Variable-Bit-Rate mp3 is though. All modern MP3 players should be able to play VBR MP3, though some are unable to display the correct playing time or play position. Some Podcasting services require CBR as do some audio book websites. For podcasts or audio books, assume...

Re: Regular Interval Region Labels
There is an error in the error message: Where better for and error? :D If I have one second of audio, choose "Number of labels", two labels with length of label 0.5 or 0.4s, or three labels with length of label 0.3s, why does "Adjust label interval to fit length" cause a label o...

Re: Novice seeking info on file compression
If the sermons don't contain music, just speech, you can half the sample rate to 22025Hz, which will reduce your file size. Not for MP3, though - the sample rate does not affect the file size. Though converting to mono does allow higher compression (lower "kbps") for an equivalent sound q...

Topic split from http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=232915#p232915 No one is suggesting anything other than a generic plug-in to (for example) delete five specific ranges in a selection. I've been thinking about this and it looks like an interesting idea, though I'm uncertain if there wou...

Re: 8 outputs audio card
Thank you for the answer, but there is a little misunderstanding. I didn't talk about exporting tracks, but about routing each track to a different output of the sound card and route each output of the soundtrack to an analog input of a real mixer. Audacity cannot currently do that. The output from...

Re: Recording from a computer game
Not all sound cards have "Stereo Mix" enabled (even on XP). Check in the Windows Sound Control Panel to see if your sound card has a Stereo Mix option. If it doesn't then you will need to use one of the workaround options descried here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issue...

Re: Can't open some MP3 files.
Here's a small example (36 KB) It is not a valid MP3 file. The actual format is AMR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_Multi-Rate_audio_codec If you install FFmpeg you should be able to import the file into Audacity http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown T...

Re: Some On Demand Loading questions
A big question, so I'll try and break it down into points. Also, see here for an overview of the technology: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html in particular, this section: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html#dependencies I'm experimenting with using ...
