Re: How to measure the dynamic range ?
I have a background which has been constructed with four talkers (2 french, 2 english speakers) and I would like to caracterize this background noise to be sure that it fullfills the above criteria. You will need to explain that. I've shown how to measure RMS levels, which is what you initially ask...

Re: Regular Interval Region Labels
If they want to label regularly based on a label interval, why do they also want to specify the number of labels? I can think of several situations where a user may want X number of labels at intervals of Y seconds, perhaps even before the project contains any audio tracks. However, "analyze&q...

Re: How to measure the dynamic range ?
To me, the dynamic range is defined by the audio's bit depth, e.g. 0 dB to -96 dB (For 16 bit). The dynamic range for a specific audio file is therefore: the highest RMS value present minus the lowest representable, non-zero (-inf dB) RMS value. That is a rule of thumb calculation for the dynamic r...

Re: How to measure the dynamic range ?
In particular, I am interested in the rms value and the dynamic range (variation of levels: min/max). Select the quietest part of the recording and use this as the "background" level. This is the low end of the dynamic range. Select the loudest part of the recording and use this as the &q...

Re: Windows 7 and Audacity 2.0.5 Compatibility
OK. I found audacity.cfg The offending lines do NOT appear. The dll files are in Audacity Plug-ins and Lame For Audacity. STILL cannot export (I could on the older version). Please do not post the same question more than once. I have replied here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=23358...

Re: Audacity 2.x and LAME
Why not? What happens when you try? How exactly are you exporting?kingstonp wrote:I cannot export to MP3 OR ANY OTHER format.
Try to describe step by step exactly what I need to do to reproduce the same thing that is happening on your computer.

Re: confusion
A previous post suggested Which previous post? File created by myself using Olympus WS-803 voice recorder. If you could post a short file from your Olympus I'll take a look. The recording only needs to be a couple of seconds duration containing some recognisable audio. See here for how to post file...

Re: Automated editing
I think that it is generally agreed that all right click menus need to be available by an accessible means. Which is not the case for single labels, this menu is not accessible. Currently the only right click label options are Cut, Copy and Paste, which are available by tabbing to the label, End ke...
