Re: Possible to connect Sony ICD-SX700 mic as input device?
The Sony manual https://docs.sony.com/release/ICDSX700_EN.pdf doesn't suggest that one can use the recorder as an input device except to transfer files, so my guess is probably not. Having looked at the manual, my guess is that you are right. On portable recorders that do support use as a USB micro...

Re: sound and project migration issues
An audacity project is made up of a "project file" and separate "data". To safely move an Audacity project you need to move both the project file and all of the data and keep them both together. How to do this is described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_proje...

Re: Vectorscope or equivalent
I think we've been here before. It's a lovely tool but it only works in Windows 2000 and Red Hat Linux before 1999. Works with any version of Linux using Jack Audio System. Would presumably work with any computer using Jack Audio System provided that it was appropriately compiled. The requirement f...

Re: Help problem with tone generator
My first example was overly complicated, so here's a really simple method. 1) Open Audacity 2) Set the "Project Rate" to the required sample rate (for example 11025 Hz). The Project Rate is set in the bottom left corner of the main Audacity window. 3) Tracks menu > Add New > Audio Track. 4...

Ensure that playback stopped and not paused. Most commands are disabled during play, record and pause. (Press the Stop button).

Re: Help problem with tone generator
The experiment is on Alias signals tho, is there anyway I can intentionally do it? There is no way to represent a signal with a frequency greater than half the sample rate. That is the point of the Shannon Nyquist theorem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyquist%E2%80%93Shannon_sampling_theorem) Note ...

Re: CD recording doesn't work
I can play the music on my computer. However, it will not play on my car CD nor on a CD player in the house. To make a CD that will play in normal CD players you need to specify "Audio CD" in your CD burning software, "Data CDs" will usually play on computers, but not on many st...

Re: Help problem with tone generator
The experiment requires me to create tones of 1kHz-16kHz sampled at 11025 for the first test. It has worked fine from tones 1kHz-5kHz bit when I try to make a tone of 6kHz and over it creates no signal, just a straight line That is what should happen. The highest frequency that can be represented i...

Re: Please Help - No Audacity.cfg file?
I have been met with a box asking me if I want to install the VST Effects: Hard Limiter_1413 sc4_1882 Should I check the boxes or uncheck? Those two effects are "LADSPA" effects. They are shipped with Audacity 2.0.5 as standard. We've not had any reports of problems with either of these e...
