Re: Cannot copy selection

Press the Stop button.
Most of Audacity's commands are unavailable while playing, recording or paused.

Re: Improving an old recording

I've been watching this discussion from afar. The main problems that I've noticed: 1) "Monitoring" (trying to get the sound right) using computer speakers. Computer speakers are almost always bad, especially laptop speakers (which have hardly any bass response). Trying to EQ with bad speak...

Re: Ghastly noise

Try rebooting your computer.
Try using a different USB port.
Don't use a USB hub - the turntable must be plugged directly into the computer.
Avoid running other programs at the same time.

Re: Bug : vertical scale initially incorrect on log spectrog

Thanks Trebor. This appeared in Audacity 1.3.14. it is logged on Bugzilla. Unfortunately there were 267 code changes between 1.3.13 and 1.3.14, which make tracking down the offending code less easy. 1.3.13 is r11097 1.3.14 is r11364 Martyn Shaw (developer) commented: "Clearly there is a disconn...

Re: deleted .aup file

it seems to me the ability to conveniently turn accidental trash into a working show should be very near the top of development efforts, given that producing a show is Audacity's Mission Statement. I would much prefer that those developer hours went into developing a robust unitary project format ....

The most recent ABX listening test results that I've been able to find (more than one listener) date back to November 2008. http://listening-tests.hydrogenaudio.org/sebastian/mp3-128-1/index.htm These are the final results: http://listening-tests.hydrogenaudio.org/sebastian/mp3-128-1/resultsz.png In...

Re: Windows XP set up

First thing, check that you have the current version of Audacity and not an old / obsolete version. Look in "Help > About Audacity". The current version is 2.0.5. If that is not the version that you have, the correct version is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Connect your...

Re: Help with Science Fair Project Involving Audio Compressi

To try and clarify a few points: It's very uncommon, but people have posted that they like iTunes MP3 generation better than Lame. Do you mean that it is "very uncommon" for people to post saying that they prefer iTunes MP3 to LAME MP3? If not then what are you saying, and on what basis ar...

Re: Karaoke

After stripping any original track of its vocals would it be possible to have the original vocals only be playing back in a wannabe Elvis' ear on an exclusive track that is not broadcast. IF you have both the karaoke track (no vocal) and the solo vocal track, then you could make a stereo track with...
