Re: Moving from 1.2.6 to 2.0.5 questions.

Audacity 2.0.5 (the current version) has a huge number of new and improved features compared with the old 1.2.6 version. There are far too many to list here, but a few highlights: New Reverb effect. New "Paulstretch" effect. New "Bass and Treble" effect. Improved "Change Pit...

Re: Pitch detection plug-in

In my tests, the pitch detect plug-in is accurate to within about 1%.
How does that compare with your tests?

Re: Pitch detection plug-in

For example with a readout from the standard FFT analyze tool I get the peak at say 3.133Hz Which tool is that? "Plot Spectrum" does not show decimal places. and the pitch detected says 3.157Hz. Pitch detect does not work with such low frequencies. To get an idea of accuracy, try generati...

Re: cut and paste

The easiest way to select part of a track is to click on the waveform and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag along the track. Ensure that "Snap To" is not enabled (not ticked) http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/selection_toolbar.html#snap For other ways of selecting audio, s...

Re: How to complete an action similar to CUE

There are several ways to do this. Here's one method: Import the WAV file into Audacity. Find the point where you want to split the track. If necessary, zoom in on the waveform http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/zooming.html Click on the waveform at the exact point where you want to split the trac...

Re: What might cause tracks to be out of tune when exported?

Just listened to that audio clip you linked to (thanks for that)... it doesn't seem to be as dramatic a shift in pitch as that. Sounds like the 44 sample is a whole step lower than 48 sample. Definitely less subtle than what I'm experiencing. In light of the above, it does seem as if Audacity resam...

Re: What might cause tracks to be out of tune when exported?

One thing that jumps out to me is the down-grade from 24 bit to 16 bit. This is like doing a compression of an already compressed file. Each compression scheme sets limits on what can be captured and digitalized, when uncompressed, it cannot sound like the original as some content was dicarded duri...

Re: Pitch detection plug-in

Would only need the extracted frequency in Hz as a variable for further processing. The frequency in Hz is the value of the variable "f0" which is calculated by the function "bestguess" (line 86). The function is called at line 100: (bestguess (getyin s dur)) This returns the &q...

Re: Recordings sound as if they were made in a tunnel

These recordings sounded fine when I made them, to me on my computer and the producer at the radio station and the broadcast itself. Why do the same files (150 of them) have an echo now, to me on my computer, and the producer at the radio station ? Assuming that these files have not been changed by...
