Re: Editing old DJ mix, beats slightly out of phase
I see what you mean, and yes it was probably caused by phase problems between sounds that were being mixed. The only effective way that I can think of to fix that is to take a "good" beat and use it to patch over the damaged beat. This is moderately tricky as you need to get the good beat ...

Re: Playback garbled on track 2 or higher.
It just seems to be realated to recording any track after track one. When you record the first track, audio data is coming into the computer via the audio interface (your USB sound card). When you record the second track, audio data is coming into the computer via the audio interface (via USB) and ...

at times I can feel a bit overwhelmed Oops, sorry about that ;) I’m unclear if they were being directed at my issues or not? The part most relevant to your issues is the final paragraph: "For this specific audio sample, I would suggest using one of the current hum filters to remove the worst o...

Re: Playback garbled on track 2 or higher.
How do you know that the audio data for track 2 is not garbled when it written to disk, until you play it?
If you record track 2, and then delete track 1 (click on the [X] in the top left corner of the track) and then play track 2, is it garbled?

Re: Feature request: "Goto" in Label Editor
That would be handy, particularly if the matching criteria were "starts with" and "ignore case" so only the initial characters need be typed. but would make the search completely useless with some naming schemes, such as: track01, track02, track03... I'm not particularly fond of...

Re: How can I stop getting this black line?
It's just a marker. Why worry about it? No. it's a "split" between adjacent parts of the audio track. It can be safely ignored as long as you are not moving tracks. To remove the split, the sections may be rejoined by clicking on the line. Multiple splits can be rejoined simultaneously by...

Re: Playback garbled on track 2 or higher.
Using Audacity 2.0.3 on a laptop running Windows 7. Please update to the current version of Audacity: http://audacityteam.org/download/ I have an ongoing problem after I record the first track. When I overdub a second track the playback is garbled. The most likely cause is that your computer is str...

Re: Editing old DJ mix, beats slightly out of phase
If you can post a couple of short samples in WAV format , then we can take a look. Include one sample (just a few seconds) that has "normal" beats, and another that has the "out of phase" beats. The two samples should be as similar as possible in all other respects. See here for ...

Re: 50 Year Old Analog Audio Noise Removal Issue.
When developing a plug-in, one has to consider both the common / typical case, and the less usual cases. Often, to work as well with unusual cases and to still work optimally with common cases will require additional features and additional settings. There also has to be a balance between, on the on...

Good point. In fact the hum could be useful in working out how much the speed needs to be adjusted.Trebor wrote: Correcting the speed of the tape would be beneficial for the pitch of the music thereupon.
If the speed is corrected first then fine adjustment to the hum fundamental frequency isn't required.
