Re: Improved "leveling" for speech
The Manual has no information about it but I thought that three "Lights" might give me something a bit less than moderate. I spotted it in the code. The settings are the number of repetitions from once (Light) to 5 times (Heaviest). The "it wasn't such a problem" sounds far quie...

Re: Request "mono" and "optimal output" on MP3 export screen
I am guessing they would select that "Mono" button when they have a mono track (making two steps) even though they could use "Stereo" or "Joint stereo" We usually go to a lot of effort to label things so that even the most "novice" of users can understand the...

Re: Improved "leveling" for speech
To me, the middle section (Leveler) sounds horrible. Using a less "heavy" setting provides even less "leveling". As a noob I would use Leveler at Light setting and apply three times. Note that the heavier leveler settings are just more repeats of the lighter setting. There is NO ...

Re: Improved "leveling" for speech
I think the second snippet where the current Leveler processes the sound is quite like what we want - except for the distortion. You mean the one with the loud distorted voice and the other quieter voice? I thought that was exactly what we wanted to avoid! The leveler failed to "level" th...

Re: How do I best sync tracks with different, unknown tempo?
OK, I see. You can get it to within about 16 ms per 5 minutes if you use a Chain command http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/edit_chains.html Here is a Chain text file that you can put in your Chains folder NTSC-PAL.txt To get it bang-on, you will need to add a few ms of silence every few minutes (...

Re: How do I best sync tracks with different, unknown tempo?
The problem was that my audio was made for 25FPS PAL encoding and was originally faster (shorter in length) the desired than desired NTSC reference (sync). So both my PAL and NTSC audio tracks were at normal pitch. This is the part that I don't get. Why are the PAL and NTSC versions different lengt...

Re: normalize volume
You can Normalize the "amplitude" (how "big" the waveform is vertically) with the "Normalize" effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/normalize.html Note that tracks having the same peak amplitude does not necessarily mean that they will sound the same "loudne...
