Re: stretching the end of an audio

If you're wanting to stretch the last note of a recording, try the "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ef ... html#slide

Re: Single track editing.

If you have multiple track and want to align them end to end, select all of the tracks ("Ctrl+A" to "select All") then "Tracks menu > Align Track > Align End to End" http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... html#align

Re: kbps ratios for saving files

And just so I'm clear: Even if I save an edited 128 file at 320, will it still end up no better than 64? It might be a little better than a 64 kbps encoding, but the point we are trying to make is that it will be worse than the 128 kbps version that you started with. MP3 encoding always reduces the...

Re: Automatic Cutting and Normalizing of a Concert Recording

If the applause is significantly louder (higher peak level) than the rest of the audio, then you may be able to use this "pop mute" effect: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyqui ... s#Pop_Mute

Re: All playback now high-speed

This is weird, your "HDA Intel PCH: ALC662" device is reported as having no output channels :? What sort of computer is this? Is it a laptop or an "all in one" PC? How are the speakers connected? Are they built in? Does your computer have a headphone socket? If it does, does it w...

Re: pitch envelope

Yes you can, sort of ;) You would need to create the time track envelope (this will affect all tracks), then: Select the track that you want it to affect. Tracks menu > Mix and Render. This will "render" the selected track and in so doing will "apply" the time envelope to the tra...

Re: kbps ratios for saving fils

The station's internet stream is only 128, in case that matters. So if you give them a 320 kbps MP3 then they would have to convert it to 128 kbps. If they can convert a 320 kbps MP3 to their 128 kbps stream, then surely they must be able to convert WAV files? Check with the radio station and ask t...

Re: kbps ratios for saving fils

Encoding to a "lossy" format such as MP3 ALWAYS reduces the sound quality irreversibly. Re-encoding an MP3 file will reduce the quality further. It's like photocopying - each "generation" is a bit worse than the previous one until it eventually becomes a blurry mess. Higher bit r...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?

As above, it's totally possible for you to be reading the instructions on your Mac and the instructions require something from a real web site. Then the browser just calls for a connection to the internet and goes looking for it. I don't think PDF can do that. PDF files can contain Internet URLs. N...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?

$30 to $40 for a "printed" manual seems more reasonable. Viability at that price would depend on expected sales. The current 2.0.5 manual is 212 pages, some of which are quite long, so after formatting for a book it could be upward of 500 pages. Even a major distributor such as Amazon is ...
