Re: Missing Microseconds-Option in "Selection Timeline"

Can you write more words about "band-limited" in this context? Sure. Here's a signal that rises from silence to -2 dB in 1 microsecond: firsttrack000.png This is the same signal that has been band-limited to 48000 Hz: firsttrack001.png and this is the same signal that has been quantized t...

Re: Multi Track Recording

while trying to pan the the first mic to the left and the second to the right Audacity is only recording the left. That is probably due to a "quirk" in Windows. By default Windows (usually) assumes that any USB audio device is mono. Go into the Windows Sound Control Panel and check the re...

Re: text

In Audacity you can use "labels" http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html
Labels only work in Audacity projects - they are not supported by other programs.

Re: blips in loops

the sample i'm working on is a cello single note. You've picked a really hard example. The problem is that during the course of a 'Cello note, the amplitude and timbre (frequency content) change. In order to create a seamless loop the ends must match up precisely, which is a matter of achieving a s...

Re: Constant White Noise regardless if mic is on or off

That sounds about right. To be honest, the noise sounds a little high, but not too bad. Ensue that you have the volume turned up loud enough on the microphone , and ensure that you are close enough to the mic. Typically you should be about 10 cm away from the mic, speaking into the "front"...

Re: Multi Track Recording

As Koz said, pan one mic to the left and the other to the right and record as "2 channels (stereo)". More than 2 channels requires special "multi-channel" recording hardware (which may or may not work with Audacity - depending on the device drivers). When you have your stereo tra...

Re: Standard Noise Removal Settings for 30 Year Old Audio Ta

The most important parts of the Noise Removal effect are: 1) Noise Profile. This is a sample of the noise that the effect is trying to remove. Ideally you should select 5 or 6 seconds that contain only the background noise. 2) The "Noise Reduction (dB)" setting. Move the slider to the left...

Please post a short sample. About 5 seconds in WAV format would be perfect, then we may be able to suggest ways to reduce the noise.

Splitting tracks is described in the manual here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sp ... racks.html

Does that solve the problem?

Re: Missing Microseconds-Option in "Selection Timeline"

As Joe Jack says, you can exactly select 11,12, 13 ... microseconds in 1.x. Set 100000 Hz Default Sample Rate (just so you can navigate microseconds easier), generate a tone, zoom in to maximum, press HOME, then drag with your mouse or nudge the cursor using RIGHT arrow and look at the Status Bar. ...
