Re: Preferences: Libraries buttons grayed out

I've just had a reply from one of the developers (not had chance to test it yet): I investigated the bug and found out, that this issue was caused by a bug in vamp-plugin-sdk 2.5+repack0-1. I fixed the bug in vamp-plugin-sdk 2.5+repack0-1 and uploaded 2.5+repack0-2 to Debian unstable. Please update ...

Re: Working with stereo and mono track

FORCE_SRATE changes the sample rate of the sound to the specified sample rate. Example: (force-srate 1000 sound ) changes the sample rate of " sound " to 1000 samples per second. SND_FOLLOW produces a control signal that rides over the top of the peaks of a sound. This takes several parame...

I've not thought much about the implementation, but user defined formats could include bars, beats and sub-beat divisions, or 4, 5 , 6, 7.... decimal places of a selected unit. Anyone want to generate a tone with a 0.008333333 hour duration?

Re: Missing Microseconds-Option in "Selection Timeline"

I am sure you know that I know that. I just don't see the relevance of that to your argument. I understand the quantizing part of your argument. If you only consider the quantizing part, then you might expect the signal in the first image to be quantized like this: firsttrack003.png but that is not...

Re: Dithering noise in WAV files

I amplified each file to 50 DB after re-import, A bit of care is needed here. "Shaped" dither is designed to be (virtually) inaudible, but assumes that playback is at a normal level. The "shaping" is based on the "equal loudness contour" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E...

Re: Changing bit rate BEFORE recording

Audacity works internally with 32 bit floating point numbers, and processes audio as 32 bit float audio. This allows Audacity to work with hugely more accuracy than if it were 16 bit. That is not really important if you are just editing and perhaps making a fade out at the end, but it becomes more i...

Re: Missing Microseconds-Option in "Selection Timeline"

So how exactly did you do that? Why should it be done? What point are you making? PCM digital audio is always band limited to half the sample rate. That's how Harry made his name. The human hearing range is (generously) quoted as 20 to 20,0000 Hz. Harry Nyquist, with contribution from Claude Shanno...

Re: Changing bit rate BEFORE recording

I am currently set at 44,000 32 bit, I'm wondering why that is, 44100 Hz is a standard sample rate (as used by all normal audio CDs) 44000 is close but not standard for anything - are you sure that you are using 44000 Hz? I can't figure out how to change the bit rate before recording Need to be a b...
