Re: recording at 32float/96, does it dither on export to 24b

What do you mean that a stream is converted to analog (when recording in stereo) by the sound card and then back to digital before Audacity records it?, do all programmes work this way? A common way on Windows to record what is playing on the computer is to set the recording input to "Stereo M...

Re: Anyone used audacity to record from multiple radio stati

Some online radio stations can be downloaded. Downloading is generally quicker and better quality than recording and requires no special hardware. Recording multiple on-line radio stations at the same time on the same computer has no chance of working unless you are able to play multiple on-line rad...

Re: dbx noise removal

I realise that this is an old post, but the link to the plugin above is broken. Can anyone tell me the name or author/vendor of the plugin so I can track it down, please? If I recall correctly, that was "Chris's dynamics compressor". Sadly the author Chris Capel died a few years ago, but ...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 & Audacity

It seems there is a problem because Audacity supports old FFmpeg and does not compile against libav which comes with latest distributions. There is a bug report which is was reported almost 2 years ago: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacity/+bug/1076928 Also on Audacity bug reports: ht...

Re: recording at 32float/96, does it dither on export to 24b

In Preferences>Quality I have Default Sample Format set to 24bit, because I recorded an internet stream at 24bit and didn't need to dither as I didn't edit it, I just wanted the original recording kept... I'm not sure what happens if you used the new "WASAPI loopback" for recording, but i...

Re: Remove verbal content but not voice qualities?

I'm conducting a research study (as a social psychologist) in which we want participants watch and listen to people appearing in video (with audio) clips. In one condition, we want the participants to hear vocal qualities (e.g., female/male voice, pitch) but not be able to decipher what the person ...
