Re: set mp3 kbps for mono to half of stereo to get same qual

whether it uses variable bit rate or constant, the metadata do not say, but I assume Probably best not to assume ;) I'm not on Mac so I don't know what tools are available to you. Perhaps if you have QuickTime, that may give you more information about the format. If you'd like to post a very short ...

Re: no sound on playback

What settings are you using in the device toolbar?

As Gale suggested, try rebooting (or log out and back in again), but first check that Skype is not set to automatically start up.
Then try using Audacity. Do not launch any other programs before checking if Audacity is working,

Re: Recording from the USB on an Allen & Heath QU-16

I want to record all the tracks from the board into one track in Audacity. Does anyone know how? That's going to be down to settings in the mixer. Have a look at the manual, and if you can't work it out from that, try the Allen & Heath Tech support (http://www.allen-heath.com/support/tech-suppo...

Re: Noise

'm not using any kind of noise removal unless there is something turned on by default in Audacity There are no effects applied to recordings by Audacity. Effects are only applied if you specifically apply them. There may be settings in Windows that are automatically applying effects. Have a look in...

Re: Open multiple audio files into one track

I'll add grahamsc's "vote" for a GUI Append Import feature that includes LOF file support. For most users though they will need (as Steve says) interface options for import order, offset, space between imported files, perhaps an option to import at the cursor point, and so on. I think tha...

Not quite "perfect" because I expect writing a LOF file would be beyond the capabilities of many Audacity users. However it would offer a very useful and flexible solution for everyone else.

Re: Alignment probem exporting and importing

Gale, so what you are telling me is that if two people have Audacity in different locations they cannot work on a project together. No that's not what he is saying. Working in different locations adds a bit of complexity to the task of multi-track recording, but it is perfectly possible. The easies...

Re: Installation software v. 1.2.6

Unfortunately some manufacturers are still bundling very old (obsolete) versions of Audacity with their products. The current (Audacity 2.0.5) is available (free) from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/mac I would recommend downloading the version near the top of the page (Audacity 2.0.5 (.dmg ...
