Except that it's not really stereo. It's mono on two channels, like playing a mono radio station through two speakers or headphones.

Re: Creating loops with metronome

Probably the biggest drawback in Audacity for loop based music is that it does not have snapping to beats. That's a feature request, I can add your vote if you'd like. The closest that we have is a plug-in that I wrote that creates creates labels for bars and beats. The plug-in is available here: ht...

Re: Recording with Boss RC-30 Loop Pedal

On the mixer, pan the condenser mic to one side (say, the left) and the line / loop input to the other side (the right). Set Audacity to record 2 channels in the device toolbar . Play back the recording and you should hear the mic on one side (the left) and the loops on the other (the right). Split ...

Re: wav tag editor

Have you considered using FLAC format? Flac is a lossless format with pretty good metadata support. Windows Media Player does not support Flac by default, but (a) why use Windows Media Player when there are much better media players available, (b) Codecs are available (free) that allow Windows Media...

Re: Creating loops with metronome

It depends what you are trying to do. If you are using commercial (purchased) loops, then they are probably at an exact pitch and bpm, in which case you can use the "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" effect to accurately stretch them as required. Do you even need to use loops? Can the soun...

Re: No LADSPA support in Ubuntu Studio 14.04 - is it you?

Audacity 2.0.5 (and 2.0.6 alpha) load LADSPA plug-ins fine on my (Debian) machine, so I don't see that it's likely to be an Audacity thing.

Do LADSPA plug-ins work OK in other programs? (for example in Ardour).

Re: Combining Windows Media Player Plaback with Microphone I

What I am struggling with just now is getting a tone into Audacity. I use a drone note to check my pitch as I sing a song unaccompanied and as that is generated by a program running on the PC in real time I can't import it. What's the drone note? Yes, with Nyquist you can generate almost any sound ...

Re: set mp3 kbps for mono to half of stereo to get same qual

The normalize to 0 dB might help but if you don't want that (for example you are applying Replay Gain) ... Personally I'd not trust normalizing to 0 dB, but "close to" 0 dB definitely helps to get the best out of VBR. The issue with Lame encoded files having a higher peak level than the o...

If it works, then no reason not to use it.
Technically, using a front port is similar to going through a hub. The main problem to watch out for is "skipping" and "clicks".
