Re: No sound

Yesterday it also had MME, but this has mysteriously disappared. That shouldn't happen. MME is a standard part of Windows and should not mysteriously "disappear". Are you looking in the right place? "MME" and "Direct Sound" should be selectable in the "host" ...

Re: Detect device

Try rebooting your computer with the device connected.
When the boot-up is complete, check in the Windows Sound Control Panel to see if Windows detects the device as both a recording and playback device, and Windows is not hiding or disabling the device.

Re: Records at high speed

OK, so if you generate a 30 second 440 Hz tone, does it play back smoothly as a constant tone for 30 seconds?
While it is playing, what shows on the "Playback" tab in pavucontrol?

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

Be encouraged, we're picking at details now. It's starting to sound very good :D These are the settings that I'd use: Record in mono. Sample rate 44100 Hz. Normalize to 0. Equalization: "LF rolloff for speech" Noise reduction: 12 0.00 200 0.15 Look for any parts that are noticeably louder ...
