Re: Trying to get Audacity to record on Debian linux

I am getting what seems to be premature clipping. For now, just experiment with the various level controls to find settings that work reasonably well. The answer to this question is a bit complex because there are so many different sound cards and they don't all behave in the same way, so if you wa...

Re: Can I get the total time from a collection of Audacity f

For "projects" there's no easy way to get an exact duration without opening the project. For a project that contains just one stereo track with the default sample rate of 44100 Hz, then you can approximate the length by dividing the size of the project "_data" folder (in MB) by 2...

Re: Where make puts the Audacity binary

Prior to the autoconf change, Audacity would pick up both the shipped plug-ins and built modules from within the source code tree. Now it doesn't. (Debian).
Remind me, what was the benefit of the autoconf change?

Re: Can I get the total time from a collection of Audacity f

I have a large audio project that involves a lot of separate Audacity files What do you mean by "Audacity files"? Audacity "projects" have two parts, a "project file" (with a .AUP file extension) and (separately) the audio data. A basic understanding of what a "pr...

Re: Cannot edit selection (in stop mode)

Have you selected the audio that you want to edit: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/au ... ction.html

If that isn't the problem, please give steps to reproduce the issue (remember we can't see your machine so you need to describe every detail of what we need to do to get the problem).

Re: Odd Popping Sound from Mic That I'm Trying to Mitigate

I don't think that you can "fix" that sound, other than by editing it out (deleting those bits). I can't imaging how a microphone can be causing that noise, so I'd definitely suggest testing that mic on another computer or other recording device if you can, and testing another mic on your ...

Re: Odd Popping Sound from Mic That I'm Trying to Mitigate

That's a weird sound. I don't recognise it.
Are you able to try the microphone on another computer, or try another microphone in your computer?
