First of all all the old tracks loaded play. I copied another old MP3 track from the computer and loaded it and it plays fine. That's good news. Could it be the 2.0.5 version? I wouldn't have thought so. If you could send a couple of files via a free file sharing site (such as dropbox or sendspace)...

Isnt this going to be a mismatch? Very likely. If the "mic" input really is a "mic" input, then definitely a bad mismatch, and probably mono to boot. On some laptops the "mic" input is actually a dual function "mono microphone" / "stereo line level"...

In the current (2.0.5) version, "Delete" has been put into a sub-menu:
"Edit > Remove Audio or Labels > Delete"
(When Audacity 2.0.6 comes out, "Delete" will be back in the main Edit menu)
