Re: modified silence marker to insert more silence
I may provide "Ignore trailing silence" (suggestions for a better label?) as an option, as this would be very useful (given current limitations of Nyquist plug-ins) for the not-unlikely use of applying to multiple tracks. Doh! That's not going to work for the very reason that I said to Ro...

Re: Buzz noise at beginning of vocal after you export
Watch out for little arrows pointing to the left as shown here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/m/images/4/47/track_audio_before_zero.png That indicates that there is audio hidden behind the start (time=0.0) of the track. What is happening is that when you clean up the start of the track, there is ...

Re: Buzz noise at beginning of vocal after you export
We know the problem is burned into the export because it's audible on the posted file. The noise sounds like "Room Tone." An open studio microphone with no performer exhibiting normal quiet MicPre hiss and a touch of 60/120 Hz buzz. So it's a real thing and Audacity is getting it from som...

Re: 7 speaker audio file
Audacity can produce multi-channel files (using "Custom Mix"), but Audacity can only play mono (one channel) or stereo (2 channels).
I don't use a Mac so I'm not familiar with Mac software. Perhaps QuickTime can play multi-channel audio files?

Re: Audacity and Computer time appear to be different
The clock on your computer probably keeps good time, and as you say, will regularly be synchronised to an on-line atomic clock. The clock on your sound card is probably drifting. This is common on the (very cheap) audio devices that are included on motherboards. To check your computer clock, disconn...

Re: modified silence marker to insert more silence
my incorrect assumption was that the default would be for all silences to be extended (because there is nothing to suggest otherwise). I agree that is a very reasonable assumption (thanks for the feedback). In fact I'd go further to say that the name "Extend Silence" strongly suggests tha...

Re: Help on remove the noise
"Effect > Equalization" and use the "Telephone" preset. That will probably stop the noise from hurting your ears, but not much more than that. That's probably as good as it gets. The damage is really beyond repair.

Re: Selecting only one track to move or manipulate
If the tracks are "selected" (highlighted in a darker colour), then the tracks will move together. If they are not selected, then, by default, only the track that you are dragging will move, unless you have accidentally enabled "Sync-Lock" http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/edi...
