Re: Compressing with PopMute

I just see the manual says "use Compressor instead" and I have never tried it. The built-in "Compressor" effect is a bit quirky, (dynamic compressors frequently are), but can produce good results. You'll need to play with it to get a feel for it, but it is reasonably well docume...

I guessed that and followed suit in calling it "Limiter" I've now corrected my previous post to say "Leveler".

I'm guessing "not possible", but please post a sample and we'll be happy to take a look/listen.

Re: Don't understand new noise removal prompt box

There's a load of information about the Noise Removal effect in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/noise_removal.html If you are using Windows and installed the recommended version of Audacity, the manual is included in the Help menu. Note that the picture of Audacity on the front page...

Re: Compressing with PopMute

Said she disliked what Limiter itself did. If you mean the built-in "Leveler" effect, then I completely agree. I've campaigned for that effect to be replaced for years! The problem with the built-in "Leveler" effect is that it is not really a Limiter , it is a Wave Shaper (AKA a...

Re: Mystery of the tiny waveform and intermittent 1000 hz to

Your "PylePro PDMIC58" microphone is a copy of a "Shure SM58" mic. As written previously, these types of microphone (and almost all professional microphones) are designed for plugging into a "balanced XLR connection with around 600 Ohm input impedance". These types of m...

Re: Compressing with PopMute

I learned of someone who uses Steve's PopMute effect with certain settings as a compressor for voice recordings -- two or three times, alternating with amplification to a 0 dB peak. Is this a surprising unintended use? It's an unintended use, but not hugely surprising. Users frequently find novel w...

Re: Change Speed - Stretch audio to a specified length

"Stretch" as the name of "StretchAudio.ny" is a little misleading for non-technical users If I recall correctly, "stretch" was the term used by the user that was asking how to "stretch" one track to synchronise with another. In non-technical realms, I think o...

Re: Improvement to the vocoder effect

Currently Audacity does not support multiple processors. Over the years there has been some exploratory work on this. Here is one of the older discussions: http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/multithreading-td2240954.html Also some work using SSE (http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/Requested-EQ-S...

Will that work with a USB interface?
Why? Are you having difficulty getting it to work? If so, please give a detailed description of your set-up, including model/version numbers and your settings.
