Thanks for the suggestion. Could you explain what the purpose of that would be? Chains are primarily to allow a series (chain) of commands to be run without requiring user interaction, so adding "EDIT METADATA" to a chain would seem to undermine the purpose of using a chain

Good, that sounds promising.
Could you post the actual audio file that caused the problem?

Do you have an opinion for a good limiter effect for speech? if you are only wanting to apply a modest amount of limiting, I like this one: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Limiter_.282.29 For more aggressive limiting, I'd go for: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php...

Re: Loss of menus after using Preferences
Will be latest version of MINT x64. If practical to do so, I'd recommend testing different versions of MINT before you commit to one. On 64 bit hardware you can use either the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of MINT. Performance wise there will probably be little (if any) noticeable difference between...

so I think we can blame pulse "Blame" is probably a bit harsh, though PulseAudio is certainly implicated ;) The Audacity developers are aware of this issue and are considering a number of ways that may resolve it. It appears to be due to an unusual combination of behaviours in Audacity, P...

Re: how to lengthen a truncated word
I find that often produces a click at the end of the processed selection though, requiring a deletion of the click or crossfade. That's true even if the selection was on zero crossings. I tried it a couple of times and there was no click, though I agree that there could be. It may be possible to re...

Re: Help! Can I record guitar this way?
I recently passed a reference to a "Mic Line Input" in another instruction sheet. It's good to be cautious about such terms, though (so called) "Mic / Line input" sockets are becoming increasing common in home studio equipment. They are frequently wired for unbalanced "line...

Effect > Repeat... might work if you zoom in and drag a really short selection. or "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" (changing only the Tempo to a negative amount). Stretching more than -50% will almost certainly sound weird but a subtle change of say -20 % will probably sound reasonable...

Re: Voice to midi
Hi! I am involved in a project for converting "voice" samples into midi piano-notes. I am recording 1 sec of voice into windows wav file, using no-good microphone, and then running FFT on 4096 "chunks". I am facing (at least) 2 problems: 1. my microphone do not recognize properl...

Re: How can I reduce crackling/popping sounds on a ringtone?
the speakers don't play it as properly as my computer speakers/headphones would (not sure if it's the bass that's causing it). I don't have a Samsung Galaxy, but I imagine that it has a very small speaker, so bass frequencies could easily cause problems. The other thing that will certainly cause pr...
