Re: Inaccurate documentation for compressor?
From Wikipedia ("upward" compression): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/29/Upward_compression.svg/220px-Upward_compression.svg.png It's just occurred to me what they are probably trying to describe in that image. A "conventional" compressor is 'downward' in ...

Re: Low Sound after recording...
I'm still inclined to think that it just a setting problem in Windows. Have you looked in the Windows Sound Control Panel ? Try setting the M-One as the default recording device (recording tab), then "Properties > Levels" to ensure that the level is turned up. It should be set for "mo...

Re: Batch editing Metadata
I wish to change the GENRE in a large number of files. Ah, I see. Audacity is not really very suitable for that type of job, particularly if your files are in a compressed format such as MP3. Because Audacity is designed for manipulating sounds in all kinds of wonderful ways, before Audacity can do...

Re: import sound
By the way, I got the Audacity software when I received the recorder. You may want to check which version they have given you. Companies that include Audacity with their products don't often bother to update their disks. You will find the version number if you look in "Help > About Audacity&qu...

my Hype tap player Is that a USB cassette player? How is the "Hype tap player" connected to your computer? Which version of Windows are you using? There is an article about recording from USB record and tape players in the manual here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_with_u...

Re: crazy requirements - please help
I need to take .wav files, then cut them together into a sequence - Audacity helps with that I think? Not sure what you mean by "cut them ... into a sequence". Do you mean "join them into a sequence" so that multiple files are concatenated (joined end to end) into one file? I ne...

Re: Audacity record level vs. EMU 0404 input level control
I'm not on Windows, but from (many) other posts to this forum it looks like Windows often assumes that USB audio devices are microphones, and so the gain is set really high when the recording level is turned up to what looks like a 'reasonable' level. As flynwill wrote, Audacity does not do anything...

Re: How can I get a 'narrow slice' of white noise?
With this, you find your T frequency by matching what you hear to a tone generator, then you listen to music that had had 'white noise at this frequency', as they describe it, overlaid onto it. You do this for many hours, That is the opposite to what has been previously described by other visitors ...

Re: Wierd vocal artifact merge with rhythm guitar!
the only way to make a good stereo is to put each instrument at a different channel. So you want to separate out the instruments from the mono mix? Please let us know if you find a way to do that. The only way that I can think of that might work is to spend many many hours manually teasing apart th...
