Unfortunately the only workaround that I know of at present is to use a different desktop theme. Some interface text or markings remain in black when using High Contrast light-on-dark themes, so cannot be read properly

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?
I did a Googl search and found this, here, on this site, from 2013: That was referring to voice recordings for audiobooks, not for music. A-Weighted RMS was intended for measuring low level noise, such as the background hiss created by electronic components in audio circuits. It's not a particularl...

Re: Need help fixing a muffled (stereo) live recording
Try the "Bass and Treble" effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/bass_and_treble.html Turn the bass down a bit and turn the treble up a bit. Use the "Preview" button to test your settings. If you don't get it right straight away, "Ctrl+Z" to undo. When you've got ...

Re: Improving waveform dB vertical scale
I agree that the current list of options for dB range has a bit of a gap: 36 dB (shallow range for high-amplitude editing) 48 dB (PCM range of 8 bit samples) 60 dB (PCM range of 10 bit samples) 96 dB (PCM range of 16 bit samples) 120 dB (approximate limit of human hearing) 145 dB (PCM range of 24 bi...

Re: Improving waveform dB vertical scale
I should get out of 2.0.3 one of these days. :? But why discrete choices anyway? Why not? Do you want a slider? or text input? or a rotary control? I don't see that it makes much difference while the control is hidden away in Preferences. I guess the developer though that half a dozen options was e...

If this is what you mean, then it's rather easy:Paul L wrote:Do you know why I can't choose any lower limit between -60 and -96, Steve? Someone told me it complicates the math, but I don't get why it would.

Re: Improving waveform dB vertical scale
There are also no gradations for the negative part of the wave. That's a long standing complaint, but unfortunately I think it is hard to fix. If you want to have a go then I can show you where it is in the code, but beyond that I get completely lost. It is not easy code. What I would like is an op...

Re: Lossless Normalization of Audio Files (mp3 & wave)
The "technical" (correct) meaning of "Normalize" is somewhat different. It means setting the "peak level" to a specified level. This is what the Audacity "Normalize" effect does: (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/normalize.html) Unfortunately, the term is ...

Re: Saving a project hangs Audacity
The AUP file looks like a perfectly formed empty project.
The log file says that Audacity can't open files in the folder:
C:UsersDKAppDataLocalTempaudacity_temp
Are you logged in as "DK"?
Does that folder exist?

If you can reproduce that, it would be worth starting a new topic.kozikowski wrote: I swear I needed to apply different filters and remove them on two different windows and they followed the order of application, not the window focus.
I can't reproduce that here.
