Re: Virus-free?

Provided that you download the official version (http://audacityteam.org/download/) then it is free of viruses and other malware. We cannot guarantee that versions from other sources will be. Note that most download sites (including the official Audacity downloads) may have advertisements, including...

Re: Compressor: shorter attack/release times?

Not that one specifically, though I have a whole bunch of dynamic processor plug-ins of various types.
That particular one has the features that I'd like in the built-in Audacity Compressor effect.

Re: Audacity NOT distorting (strange)

What's the full story?

You recorded the tapes, trimmed and Normalized the recording, then exported as MP3, and now when you open the MP3 files you see red clipping lines over 50% of the track?

Re: Audacity made silenced half the audio in the project

The current version is 2.0.5 and is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ There is a known problem (listed in the release notes) that Projects with 2^31 samples or more (just over 13.5 hours at 44100 Hz) will not re-open correctly. Higher sample rates mean proportionally shorter times - ...

Re: Switch to MyBB

Switching to MyBB has been considered before, but there were problems migrating the database.
I see that the MyBB Merge System has recently been updated, so this may be worth reconsidering.

Re: Auto Export-Selected

Maybe Export and Export-All. So "Export" is a renamed "Export Selected Audio" and "Export-All" is a renamed "Export"? Doesn't that have exactly the same "problem" of clicking the wrong one? (with the added confusion that it is non-standard terminolo...

Re: How is RMS Value Determined?

I'm doing some audio editing work for a community radio station and there are lots of problems with levels (mics too loud, too soft, etc.). There is a relatively new standard (ITU-R BS.1771) designed to handle issues of "standard loudness". http://www.itu.int/dms_pubrec/itu-r/rec/bs/R-REC...

I'm +1 on a Play button - are you? I already voted for file properties display after import.
Yes, +1 on a Play button, but I think I already voted for that.
I'd prefer file properties to be available before import.

That would do nicely I think, but as you say, Vaughan doesn't buy it. Perhaps he would buy a smaller change?

Re: MP3 ID Tag Bug?

ID3v2 has been around for about 16 years (longer than many of our users have been alive). At the end of the day, it comes down to developer time, priorities and interest. Audacity is developed and supported by volunteers / enthusiasts. I expect that the majority of our users would prefer the (limite...
