Re: Debug report

The problem is that "something" is preventing Audacity from writing to that location - that's not normal. Applications should have read / write access there. Do you log in with a normal user account? Have you had any problems in the past with "access denied" type errors (with any...

Re: Hearing other person on therapy recording session

1- Would you recommend both people being recorded are hands-free (no headset)? That is unlikely to make much difference. 2- Is it definitely true that none of the dropdown menus in Audacity help with audio quality (e.g., Windows WASPI, MME, Windows Direct Sound)? That is unlikely to make much diffe...

Re: Debug report

As a test, see if you can create a new file ("untitled.txt") in the folder "C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Local\Audacity\SessionData"

I would post photos but I keep getting a “image too big” notice.
Try a "screenshot" rather than a photo (See: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201361)
Preferably a screenshot of just the relevant portion of the screen.

Yeah literally 5.000 seconds every time
Do you have any trial / demo plug-ins installed?

Does your Mac have a built in mic? If it does, try recording from the mic to see if the same thing happens.

Re: Audacity doesn't recognize an external microphone

Actually, I would like to measure snoring while sleeping as a part of graduation project and I'm looking for the software to do it. After that, I'll analyze the graph whose hozirontal axis is time(h) and vertical axis is frequency. Do you know some convenient software which meets this demand? The o...

Re: Macros with specific MP3-Export-Bitrates

Now I want to create different macros with different export options, for example a macro for Normalize + Export in VBR0 and another macro for Normalize + Export in 256 kbit/s. I'm pretty sure this is possible but I don't know how. No, that is not yet possible. As you wrote, the macro will always us...

Re: Audacity doesn't recognize an external microphone

Have you given Audacity permission to use the microphone? (In the Mac "Preferences > Privacy" settings).

Re: Add speed multiplier to Change Tempo/Pitch

It's good that a multiplier was added to Change Speed because using percentages is confusing. For example, To speed up audio by 2x, you would supply a percentage of 100%, and for 10x, you would supply 900%. In fact, -66.7% corresponds to 0.333x. So the multiplier is much more intuitive to use. Than...

Re: Setting the Save Project Default file location

I want all work-files to be in the cloud. This is not recommended - especially for recording - networked/cloud "devices" may not be able to keep up with the real-time demands of recording audio. ... and if the network/cloud storage device fails to keep up, that will permanently destroy yo...
