Re: can hear MIDI but can't record it (reprise)

I don't know a lot about QSynth, but some pointers that may help: (Update: Some information is updated in the next 2 posts, so read them too before attempting this) Before you start, open a Terminal window and enter: pacmd list-sinks Look for the "sample spec:" line in the output. It will ...

Re: Megamixes

The whole point of megamixes is that you can't tell exactly where one song ends and the next one starts. It works - Audacity has no idea where one song ends and the next one starts. Command + "." (dot) to add a label during playback. Command + B to add a label at the cursor position / sele...

Re: Im looking for instructions for Wave Stat w/Aud 2.0 on

What I am asking for is how to obtain a written set of instructions that will provide a new user of Audacity the step by step instructions for utilizing the plugin The only "instructions" that currently exist are the notes in the topic that Gale gave the link for. stats.ny is not an offic...

Re: audioinputlevel controle

Close mic'd? That's going to be pretty loud.
Using the SM58, set the input level on the Tascam at minimum and record a few seconds. Export as a WAV file and attach the exported file to your reply (use the "upload attachment" option below the message composing box.

Re: Latency Issues

So, with all that said... is this standard variance? Should I adjust the buffer? Do I need more RAM? Anything else? I presume that is with an "on board sound card? Computer manufacturers rarely spend more than a few cents on the sound card hardware. You could indeed try increasing the buffer s...

Re: Gverb vs Reverb

If you want the reverb to be as long and "hissy" as that, you will need to install GVerb. The new Reverb effect cannot go as extreme as that. I hope you don't mind me saying, and reverb is very much a matter of taste, but I find that huge amount of reverb distracts from the quality of your...

Re: XLR to USB adapter, and Audacity

One of the reviews on the Thomann site says (translated by Google from French) This cable contains a preamp and comes with a USB output. You just have him add a microphone, you can thomann record directly to your computer Operation is simple, you just need a sequencer (eg audacity). Install on your ...

Re: Vectorscope or equivalent

A useful thing would be for Audacity to have a [-1...0...+1] kind of display always in the meter group. I'm not sure that I would want it "always" in the meter group, but I'd like to vote for a simple "stereo phase meter" (like the red/green meter below the "JF Bridge").

Re: audioinputlevel controle

HOW are we supposed to get any kind of reasonable sound level recorded? ... I was using simple Tascam iUR2 interface It's "supposed" to be done using the input level controls on the Tascam. Those control the analog gain before the signal is converted to digital, so (in theory) that should...
