Re: Frequency Analysis at Full Size Reveals Previously Hidde
but what about the part from 1Hz (or 0?) to about 50Hz? That's probably "noise", but it is at a very low level. Unfortunately Audacity does not have real-time effects, at lest not yet. In the mean time, make full use of the "Preview" button. The Preview length can be made longer...

Re: What to Edit with?! Speakers, Headphones, and What Type?
Steve did make a distortion plugin for Audacity which has 10 types ... viewtopic.php?p=237796#p237796 it can produce very subtle distortion, in fact LESS distortion than the Leveler effect (which is not really supposed to be a distortion effect !) Try the "Soft Distortion" setting with a ...

Re: Separating Tracks
If it is a mono track, then no, you're stuck with the two together.
If it is a stereo track and the microphone is one one side and the telephone on the other (left/right) then you can use "Split Stereo to Mono" http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sp ... racks.html

Re: Automatically fading badly cut notes to remove clicks
There's a way that you can make it quicker. Download this "Fade In and Out" plug-in: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Fade_In_and_Out Instructions for installing: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Download_Nyquist_Plug-ins#Installing_Plug-ins Select one note, apply...

That's better, but it is still rather low.
How far from the mic are you?

Re: Saving as 16bit
any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? You're doing nothing wrong as far as I can see. By default, when you import a 16 bit WAV file, Audacity imports it as "32 bit float" data. This allows Audacity to process the audio in higher quality, so all effects work better. If you export in 16 bi...

Re: Razor or Cut Tool??
I want to cut small sections out of the original, single track and move them down into other tracks, as new ones. I need to do this several times and crossfade them all together. SO, do I seriously have to select a section, isolate it, export it and then bring it back in??? Why is there not a razor...

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
I agree with Robert. There's a lot of good things about your sample so we're looking to refine your recording technique rather than starting from scratch. If you don't already have one, I'd suggest that you get a free dropbox or Google Drive account (or similar) to make it easier to post audio sampl...

Re: Please assist a newbie
Most operations in Audacity require that Audacity is "stopped" (not playing, paused or recording).
I'm betting that you "Paused" playback, so please try clicking the Stop button.

Re: cannot open .aup file
An Audacity Project is not a single audio file but is a complex set of files managed by Audacity. Audacity projects have a top-level AUP file and a related folder containing the sound files (the audio data). The AUP is not a sound file, it is merely a list of instructions that tell Audacity how to c...
