Re: Strange interference with mic
Try the headset on a different machine. It may be malfunctioning.

Re: LOST RECORDING
NOTE: this particular project is only 5 tracks of audio, yet, the number of .AU files is tremendously high. I have 38 subdirs each with about 255 files totalling just under 10,000 files. Audacity projects are big, particularly while you are working on them. By default the audio data is in high reso...

Re: LOST RECORDING
Change the file extension to ".txt" and post it as an attachment. I'll have a look to see if it looks anything like a proper .autosave file.jaja714 wrote:Audacity did not recognize the type of the file
Did you say that you had recovered 2 .autosave files? If so, post both of them.

Re: Strange interference with mic
The "awful noise" is electrical interference from inside your computer.
My guess is that your computer is not configured to use the headset mic, but is actually using an internal mic on your laptop, or a web cam mic.
In Audacity, the recording input is set in the device toolbar.

Re: LOST RECORDING
Audacity saves the audio data in randomly numbered "block files" (".AU") The .AU files are stored in a data tree with no more than 100 files per folder. When the project is Saved, the .AUP file holds all the information necessary to reassemble the block files to recreate the proj...

Re: Removing vocoder/voice masking?
No it isn't possible.ADA wrote:With just a single track is it possible to remove these effects and clear up the voice somehow?
If you can find the song on iTunes you may be able to look up the "lyrics", but I suspect that it is just "vocal sounds" rather than meaningful "words".

Re: LOST RECORDING
There's a section in the manual about crash recovery that may help: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recovery.html

Re: Best Way to Bandsplit Audio
Use the Equalization effect. That's an FFT filter so it does not have the phase shift issues that the "High Pass" and "Low Pass" effects have.

Re: Help running time code on channel without bleedover
Does your computer have the curse of "Beats Audio"? If so, then it's very likely that there is either a setting related to that, or the sound card is just too trash to achieve decent performance. If the latter, then you'll need to upgrade the sound card (which need not be very costly).
