whenever I try to save it says: No it doesn't. There is a subtle difference that must not be missed. "Saving" in Audacity saves an "Audacity Project". Saving an Audacity project does not require LAME. An Audacity project can only be opened by Audacity - it is not a normal audio ...

If you are using the usual default format of "32 bit float", then "over 0 dB" is not in itself a problem, and 32 bit float format can handle values well above 0 dB. The only "problem" is that it will need to be amplified to a peak level of 0 dB or less before playing or...

The scissors button is supposed to work the same as the "Cut" command in the Edit menu (with the exception that it does not do the "select all audio if none selected" thing. As far as I'm aware, both Cut and the scissors work correctly (as designed and as described in the manual ...

Do you have any old MP4 files that previously imported OK? If so, does Audacity still import them OK? If so, then what is the difference between your old MP4 files and your new MP4 files? (MediaInfo may answer that final question).

If you mean "split the track at a certain point", then use the "Split" command or Ctrl+i.
