Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
On topic but not specific to the current discussion. Probably better as a new topic in one of the Help forums I am trying to use the Analyze tool Which "Analyze tool"? Do you mean the "Contrast" tool? What operating system are you using? What is the exact version of Audacity you...

Re: trimming first 5 seconds of 300 mp3
But if you want to try anyway, Audacity has "Chains" which is a batch processor. If you wish to do that (given the "quality issue" that Koz mentioned) and each track is less than 10 minutes duration, then you can use the "Extract Audio" plug-in in a chain (download fro...

Ensure that playback is "stopped" and not just "paused".

Re: Export to Mono AAC
Interesting they consider there that libvo-aacenc is the worst quality of all the AAC encoders and the native FFmpeg AAC encoder almost the best. According to: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/AAC#WhichencodershouldIuseWhatprovidesthebestquality " Which encoder should I use? What provides t...

Re: Using a m-box with audacity
Does the m-box show up as a recording device in the Windows Sound Control Panel? If it does, then you should be able to use it as a recording device in Audacity by selecting it in the device toolbar.

Re: Name this forum!
"Audiobook Producers" looks better to me (taking the term "producer" in the general sense). Perhaps also changing the description (suggestions?)

Re: Using a m-box with audacity
Topic moved to the Windows forum.
I'm not sure what your question is. Are you asking, "will Audacity work with an m-box" or "will an m-box work on your (obsolete) XP computer"?
What is an "MLX 909"? I looked on Google but that said it was a type of boiler

Re: Bandpass filter
Yes you can use the Equalization effect, but use the "Draw Curve" view rather than the "graphic equalizer" sliders. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/equalization.html Here's an example of a very deep and steep bandpass filter. Note the positions of the slider controls as well...

Re: Peak normalization for M4A (ALAC lossless) files
What I'm actually trying to do is just normalize the peaks of several M4A loss-less files. Or, in other words, amplify the waveform until the highest peak of each track is just under clipping. I want to do this because some of the songs in my music collection is just so much quieter than other song...
