Re: LAME 3.99.3 vs. 3.99.5
The "MP3 Library Version" continued to show 3.99.3, regardless of which lame_enc.dll was being used. My guess is that Audacity is still using 3.99.3, even though you "told it" to use the other one. (Audacity "tries" to load a version that works). What are the essential...

Re: Name this forum!
They are, but so far we have not had anyone posting generic Audacity support questions in those forums, so I don't think that point requires emphasis.Gale Andrews wrote:I don't see why the podcasting and making music groups are not equally a "community forum".

Re: Peak normalization for M4A (ALAC lossless) files
do you mean that it adds the least amount of noise If by "least amount of noise" you mean "sounds quietest", then yes. Technically , it gets a bit complicated. The "peak level" of shaped dither is a little higher than other types of dither (such as triangle or rectangl...

Re: Change samplerate of multiple OGG files?
An easy and convenient way is with OggDropXPd.
See this page for details of this and other options: http://www.vorbis.com/setup_windows/
Please note that re-encoding the files will reduce the sound quality a bit.

Re: Need Help With Sound Problem
If there are tracks that sound noticeably distorted, forget them and concentrate on the others. If a track sounds obviously distorted then it is almost certainly beyond repair.

Re: Audacity's sound problems
Thanks for the help so far. Well we've ruled out quite a few possibilities, but not really got any further identifying what the actual problem is. I thought it was a problem with the software though, as it has worked fine for ages. We can "reset" Audacity back to "factory settings&qu...

Re: Audacity's sound problems
My internal systems are pretty messed up though Doesn't sound good. Recording audio is quite demanding on the system and can quickly reveal existing problems. At your earliest convenience I would highly recommend backing up all of your data and sorting it out - with a clean install of your operatin...
