Re: Waveform View becomes "pixelated" [Audacity 2.0.6]
I think it would be kind of extraordinary if this problem shows up only in Audacity, while all other applications work absolutely flawlessly - many of which are much more demanding for the graphics card. Yes but you are describing a very specific problem involving cached data. I have to suspect tha...

Re: Waveform View becomes "pixelated" [Audacity 2.0.6]
When Audacity draws the waveform, the image data is temporarily stored in memory so that it can be retrieved quickly with minimal load on the processor. The waveform is therefore only redrawn when necessary, thus improving overall performance. If the audio data is changed, then the waveform has to b...

Re: Differences between analogue & digital mixing?
I like that the video makes it clear that the Vintage Warmer is a "distortion" effect (albeit a very subtle one). Far too often "analog warmth" is wrapped in mystical reverence that denies that fact

Ensure that the recording input in the device toolbar is set to the USB mixer. The computer's internal microphone will then be ignored.
Note that lapel mics and desktop mics can be quite prone to picking up room echo. Headset mics tend to pick up echo far less.

Re: Importing Files and Quality
I think what the Wiki means is quality loss in the file when it was originally saved as an mp3, not loss from importing, That's right. Importing a file does not change the sound quality. Data compression when exporting in a lossy format (such as MP3, Ogg, WMA, ....) does reduce the sound quality (a...

Re: I cannot get the volume as high as I used to?
Now today I cannot get the volume up high enough to record properly as I had done. Are you talking about the "recording level" (that is, the size of the waveform in the recorded track), or the "playback volume" (how loud it sounds when you play back the recording)? If the latter...

Re: Slow performance with many tracks
It looks like I'm already using the "read uncompressed (faster)" option. You may find that turning that option off improves overall performance a little. That option can be useful for working on long, single track projects as it makes large imported files available immediately (they are n...
