Re: adjudting sound levels for all .wav files
if the original author of the software decided to released his software under the (L)GPL, then you can use it exactly as describes in the (L)GPL license terms, without the need for further permission by the author. But still you are not allowed to do anything with the software that the (L)GPL doesn...

Re: adjudting sound levels for all .wav files
Thanks for the explanation Gunnar. My questions were not meant as an attack - I was asking because I was unclear what was meant. I'm still not sure that I'm 100% clear about the "some rights reserved" (I've not seen that added to a GPL license before). Are you saying that some rights are r...

Re: Clipping the end of a recording
Press the Stop button to stop the recording (editing is not possible while recording or when "paused"). Click on the audio track at the end of the recorded audio and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag to the end of the track, then release the mouse button. The excess recording...

Re: Electronic music with Nyquist?
I'm curious as to whether anyone has developed an electronic piece in Audacity from the ground up using generator plug-ins. This abstract composition was mostly generated by Nyquist in Audacity: https://soundcloud.com/stevethe-fiddle/metal-fish I believe that the stand-alone version of Nyquist (htt...

Re: Preview button in Nyquist effects
So we are saying now that in an effect that produces labels, preview should not play audio but should perhaps pop up a message giving a summary of the label positions? I can see the sense in that, but I doubt that it will happen any time soon. Nyquist plug-ins are all derived from an "effect&q...

Re: Audacity 2.0.5 not seeing hardware
Audacity just probes the system to see what devices are available, then offers those choices in the device toolbar . The only available device that it can find is the ALC888. Do you have PulseAudio volume control installed? If not, install it (the package is called "pavucontrol"). When ins...

Re: Importing Files
Just edit each file separately and export each one in "WAV" format (the default export format).

Re: adjudting sound levels for all .wav files
Although this smoothing is applied, the plug-in seems to have a steppy response. Not quite sure what you mean with that :?: It does not seem to be audible with real-world audio, but this image is a generated "440 Hz sine tone. 30 seconds duration, amplitude 0.8" to which I have applied th...

Re: adjudting sound levels for all .wav files
OK, it's working with the static build. I was a bit surprised to see a license notification saying some rights reserved in what I thought was GPL software. I see now that the VST plug-in is licensed under MIT/X11 License. What rights are reserved? Is it OK to mix and match licenses like this? I'm no...

Re: Audacity crash recording live audio second track
In "Preferences > Quality", try changing the "Default sample format" to "32 bit float".
Does that make any difference (better or worse).
I presume that you have tried rebooting the computer?
