Re: Fixable?
Too much noise removal. Noise removal is always a compromise between reducing the noise and how much damage is acceptable. The "quacking" is because you have tried to completely "remove" the noise. In reality, the best that you can hope for is to "reduce" the noise. Try...

Re: Automate open/export
The "good" file is "CBR" (constant bit rate) and the bad file is "VBR" (variable bit rate). To check if this is the defining issue, try exporting from Audacity as VBR and you should find that the resulting file does not stream down to my new iPhone app. By default Audac...

Re: insert clip into .aup file
Hmmm, maybe I did this to myself by combining all the tracks into one stereo track - that makes sense - but it would have been smarter for me to save the project prior to starting to combine the tracks. In education, we call this a "learning opportunity" not a "dumb mistake". Ab...

Re: blending mono and stereo to 1 stereo track
Clear your mind of thoughts about old tape machines. Audacity is a multi-track audio editor. The sounds do not need to be all on the same track. If you have a multi-track project like this: tracks005.png and then Export. The exported file will be a "mix" of all of the tracks like this: tra...

Re: Automate open/export
The first thing to do is to find out why some of the files don't work. If we know what we are trying to fix I expect there will be an easy solution. So, as Gale asked, what is the difference between the ones that work and the ones that don't?

Re: Audacity 2.0.6 - How to change length
If you select the part of the track where you want the tone, then "Generate > Tone" will automatically produce a tone that is the correct length to fit the selection.
"Select" the region by clicking and dragging along the track where you want the tone.

Re: Missing data folder
Where might the data folder have gone? The recycle bin? Is there a way to recover? Not without the data. If Audacity did not close down correctly and that was the last time that you had Audacity open, the data may still be in Audacity's default temp folder, in which case when you launch Audacity it...

Re: Raise (amplify) the peaks
I recall that one version worked surprisingly nicely as an expander, but I don't recall which version it was. Could you post a link, or post the plug-in, and I'll put the expander part on the wiki.Gale Andrews wrote:Steve wrote a very smooth Expander as part of a Compressor/Expander.

Re: Converting Garageband files
OK, thanks.
I've read through this several times, and I can't work out exactly what you are trying to do.
The title says: "Converting Garageband files", but then you are talking about your USB microphone. I don't see the connection between the two. Why don't you just export from Garageband?

Re: [bug] Incorrect Frequency grid for "Spectrogram log(f)"
In fact, setting the minimum frequency to any positive number will work. The problem is that a logarithmic scale cannot start at zero because "log zero is undefined".
A fix has now been applied in the development code so this will be fixed in the next Audacity release.
