Re: Auto Duck?
"Ducking" is when the volume of one sound is reduced so that you can hear another sound. "Auto Ducking" is when the "ducking" is triggered automatically. You will have heard the "Auto Duck" effect many times if you ever listen to "pop" radio. Often t...

Re: Automate open/export
Encode them at a higher bit rate, or just convert them to WAV format. Do WAV files work?SweatCoder wrote:Any idea how to (in some automated way) make mp3 files larger without adding junk?
Here is your "unfixable" file decoded to WAV format:

Re: Automate open/export
Steve: I exported to VBR format and it still worked fine. So I'm thinking the difference is unrelated to VBR vs CBR. Yes that's what it means, but at least we have eliminated that possibility. What we have so far: Bad files: foobar2000.mp3 File size : 20.3 KiB Duration : 6s 870ms Format : MPEG Audi...

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks
In all the years that I have used Audacity, I've accidentally nudged one of those sliders, perhaps once.
I'm not convinced that we need this feature at all, but I have no objection as long as it does not inconvenience the millions of users that don't need the proposed feature.

Re: insert clip into .aup file
If I understand you correctly, by mixing/rendering to a new track, I have a copy of my desired finished stereo track in the same file as all the bits. You then have a copy of my desired finished stereo track in the same Audacity Project as all the bits. But I'm not sure I understand the purpose of ...

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks
How about two new (global) options in "Preferences > Tracks". Enable track gain sliders: (radio buttons) Yes (default) / No Enable track pan sliders: (radio buttons) Yes (default) / No When disabled, the sliders are neither functional or present in the Track Control Panel. When disabled, a...

Re: Lock pan and volume in tracks
1) opt for per-track control 2) make the default "locked" I don't like that. If I have a project with 30 tracks and I want to pan each track, not only would I need to adjust the pan slider for each track (as now), I would also need to unlock the sliders (30 times) before I could do so, an...
