Re: gradual sound attenuation
If you want to attenuate down to silence, use the "Fade Out" effect (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/fades.html#linearfade) or the "Studio Fade Out" effect (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/fades.html#studio_fadeout) If you want to fade to a lower level but not t...

Re: Audacity crashing on Big Sur
It's nearly impossible to record your live microphone and a chat call at the same time on one machine. Koz, I'd find it hard to argue with you - the "nearly" seems to be my experience - it does work but I do get the feeling I'm fighting the entire time I also managed to get it to work... ...

Re: Adding an analysis tool to Audacity
1) Can you have more than just the waveform and a spectrogram in multiview? Audacity currently only supports spectrogram + waveform / waveform (dB) in multi-view: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/multi_view.html 2) Can you import other 2D time-frequency streams into Audacity? You can import text...

Re: Split Audio into Tonal and Transient Components
Thanks for the explanation and links. These functions must be standard in Audacity, which already supports many spectral modification routines. Re: Splitting a track in Audacity 2.4.2
In the menu: "Edit > Clip Boundaries > Split", does it say "Split (Ctrl + I)"? What I'm asking is: " Is "(Ctrl + i)" displayed in the menu? " If it is, then the shortcut is enabled, in which case you may be doing something else incorrectly. If it does not sho...

Re: Duelling vibratos?
Do you hear that "beating" when you listen to the tape? In other words, is it just the Audacity recording that has the problem and not the original? If so, then it may be due to the conversion from stereo to mono.
What sort of leads are you using to connect the Denon tape deck to the UM2?

I'm puzzled why you joined the Audacity forum to tell us that you don't use Audacitywillyboly15 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 9:33 pmIt always remained slow, I just download stuff from YouTube, it's much faster.

Re: Adding an analysis tool to Audacity
What sort of "labelling" do you mean?
Do you mean like Audacity's labels? (See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/label_tracks.html)
