Please post a short sample in (stereo) WAV format to illustrate the problem.
(See here for help with how to do that: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=72887)

Re: What is the difference between Joint Stereo and Stereo?
The only time it makes sense not to use mid/side is when the left & right channels are totally different. Just to emphasize your point there Doug; in that example, "Joint Stereo" is smart enough to see if there is no common "mid" and will use "left/right" stereo. I...

Re: Normalize path during export
I guess that "flattening" to ASCII encoding "could" be done, but there is a problem. Audacity is using Unicode and many Unicode characters have no direct equivalent in ASCII. I don't see that Audacity has any way of knowing what page encoding you want, without the considerable co...

Re: Amplify function
See if your audio player support "ReplayGain" or "Sound Check". If it does, then use that and save yourself a lot of bother :) Both of these technologies just require a quick scan of each audio file, and can then automatically adjust the playback level. See: http://en.wikipedia.o...

Re: How to record off the web WIN 7 64bit
The "WASAPI (loopback)" method described at the top of the tutorial page that DVDdoug posted (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... ndows.html) is usually the best method on Windows Vista and later.

Re: "Show Clipping" Options
A "better" (more reliable) way to detect clipping, would be to look for a run of "N" samples that are above a "threshold", where the "threshold" is ("peak level" - "tolerance"), and "tolerance" is specified in dB. For simple digit...

Re: Recording from sound card at wrong speed. 48 vs 44.1 MHz
What I am asking is, this is a known fault, is there a known solution No and No. It sounds to me like there is a problem with the sound card driver which is fooling PulseAudio, which in turn is sometimes sending the wrong sample rate to Audacity. what is the best workaround using audacity, Record w...

Re: What is the difference between Joint Stereo and Stereo?
I now realise that I want to always use the Stereo option rather than the Joint Stereo option. "Joint Stereo" will usually produce better sound quality, so the "Stereo" option should only be used if you have a very specific reason for doing so. 15 years ago, some encoders were n...
